Twelve Minutes West on I-69
Capac sits on the western edge of St. Clair County, close enough to the Lapeer County line that plenty of daily life — work, school sports, errands — already flows back and forth along I-69. Rotary works the same way here. Capac doesn't currently have a Rotary club within the village, and the closest one is the Imlay City Rotary Club, roughly 9 miles to the west — about 12 minutes by car.
County lines don't matter to Rotary membership, and they've never mattered to this club. Capac is one of the communities we name as part of our service area, and Capac residents have been among our members. Chartered in 1950, we're a thirty-plus member club drawing from towns across the Thumb region.
If you're in Capac and curious, the invitation is simple: come to lunch on a Wednesday.
One Hour on Wednesdays
The whole commitment starts with a single lunch hour. We meet every Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Third & Main Social Club, 244 E 3rd Street, Imlay City, MI 48444. The first two meetings of the month feature guest speakers, the third is club business, and the fourth is social. Visit as a guest with no commitment — no RSVP needed, and your first lunch is free.
If you decide to join, annual dues are about $200, weekly lunch is $15, and most members put in two to four volunteer hours a month beyond the meetings. Questions before you visit? Call (810) 614-0555 or check the events page for what's coming up.
Service That Crosses the County Line
The dollars and hours our members give go to real, visible work. Each September, our Woods-N-Water festival at the Eastern Michigan State Fairgrounds raises more than $25,000 for local projects. Every year we award over $15,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors and serve more than a thousand community meals — because no one in Imlay City, Lapeer County, or the surrounding communities should go hungry.
Members also help maintain Rotary Park on E 1st Street, support the BombStyle Blueberry Festival each June, sponsor free swimming during Summer Fest weekend, and contribute to Rotary International's global fight to end polio.
The full list lives on our projects page, and the results are on our impact page.
